The Deformer’s Attempted Deception available in December
Attempted Deception is an incredible concept art photography book by The Deformers [stylist and set designer Anna Burns and photographer Michael Baumgarten]. The Deformers is a collaborative personal journey between Burns and Baumgarten, and is intended to be a platform to communicate the private stories that they really wanted to tell.
Intentionally radical, messy and furtive, these stories aim to ask more questions than provide answers. With reoccuring themes of fetishes, altered realities, sex, frivolity and darkness, Baumgarten and Burns fuse obscurity with mischief and wit. The image making process began five years ago and the result is 90 dramatic narratives depicting their creative journey. Documenting the team's own codes and language, the images feed on their experiences and dredge their subconsciousness.
The beautiful linen bound and gilt edged book has been designed in collaboration with Multistorey and will be available at Darkroom from December. As a Set Designer with a background in fine art, Anna is fast establishing her position as a creative force within the fashion industry. Her work and research is informed by a wealth of interests from B - movies to interior design. Working within the realms of stills photography, video and event design, Anna has built a loyal clientele including Diane Von Furstenberg, Jimmy Choo, Cavalli, Dior Parfume and Hermes.
